VII International Symposium "Atmospheric and Ocean Optics"

Dear Colleagues,

Participants of the Symposium will be accommodated in the hotels in Tomsk Akademgorodok. The registration fee for full participants is $100. It may be paid at the registration desk on your arrival. Payment of accommodation and symposium banquet should be made additionally. Whenever possible, the Organizing Committee will make arrangements for young scientists and invited lecturers.

Additional information on the Workshop on Physical-Chemical Aspects of the Environmental Research and Natural Complexes to be held 20-22 July on the coast of Lake Baikal
The main objectives of the Workshop are:

  1. discussion of the state-of-the-art and prospects for cooperation with scientific institutions and research groups in the study of the atmosphere and waters of Baikal Lake - the unique natural complex located in the center of Asia.
  2. organization of joint symposium on ATMOSPHERIC PHYSICS and ATMOSPHERIC AND OCEAN OPTICS in Irkutsk in July 2001.

The location of the Workshop is the Bol'shie Koty settlement on the coast of Lake Baikal 18 km from the source of the river Angara. The participants will depart from Tomsk in the evening on July 18.
Traveling routes:
By train from Tomsk to Irkutsk; traveling time is 36 h; the ticket costs $15 (price in November 1999).
By bus to Novosibirsk (traveling time is 4 h) and then by airplane to Irkutsk (3 h); the ticket costs $90.
By motor vessel from Irkutsk to the Bol'shie Koty settlement (traveling time is 1.5 h).

Accommodation is in the camp (tent camp pitched on the forest meadow 20 m from the lake; three meals daily, bath, and conference hall for 30 participants will be provided). Participants can be accommodated in 8 double rooms of the permanent establishment; a toilet is outdoors.
Accommodation and meals cost - $150.

The members of the Workshop will have an opportunity of being acquainted with the work of the traditional integrated joint (IAO, LI, ISTP, and Buryatian Scientific Center) mission aimed at investigating the aerosol and gas composition of air in the basin of the Lake Baikal and with the Baikal Observatory (in the Listvyanka settlement). Social Program and Baikal sightseeing tours are planned.
