In 2007, June 24-29 near the village Maximikha on shore of the Lake Baikal, Buryatia, the Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS) will organize XIV International Symposium "Atmospheric and Ocean Optics. Atmospheric Physics".
The Symposium is a traditional meeting of atmospheric and ocean optics and atmospheric physics community, which has a long history as a successor of the symposiums on Laser Propagation in Atmosphere and Laser Remote Sensing of Atmosphere beginning with the early seventies and organizing by academician Vladimir Zuev.
Symposium Chairs
Gelii A. Zherebtsov
Gennadii G. Matvienko
Organizing Institutions
Institute of Atmospheric Optics SB RAS, Tomsk
Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS, Irkutsk
Physical Problems Department at the Presidium of Buryat Scientific Center SB RAS, Ulan-Ude
East Siberian State Technological University, Ulan-Ude
The Symposium is held in cooperation with the International Society for Optical Engineering and Optical Society of America.
It is planned to organize four conferences (A, B, C, D) in frame of the Symposium.

Molecular Spectroscopy of Atmospheric Gases. Absorption of Radiation in Atmosphere and Ocean. Radiative Regime and Climate Problems. Models and Data Bases for Atmospheric Optics and Physics.
B. Optical Radiation Propagation in the Atmosphere and Ocean
Wave Propagation in Random Inhomogeneous Media. Adaptive Optics. Nonlinear Effects at Radiation Propagation in Atmosphere and Water Media. Multiple Scattering in Optical Remote Sensing. Image Transfer and Processing.
C. Optical Investigation of Atmosphere and Ocean
Optical and Microphysical Properties of Atmospheric Aerosol and Suspension in Water Media. Transport and Transformation of Aerosol and Gas Components in the Atmosphere. Laser and Acoustic Sounding of Atmosphere and Ocean. Diagnostics of State and Functioning of Plants' Biosystems and Biological Objects.
D. Atmospheric Physics
Structure and Dynamics of the Lower and Middle Atmosphere. Dynamics of the Atmosphere and Climate of the Asian Region. Physical Processes and Phenomena in the Earth's Thermosphere and Ionosphere. Radio and Optic Techniques for Probing the Terrestrial Atmosphere and Underlying Surface.
Workshop of the European Scientific Association (Russia-France-Germany) for study of carbon and ozone cycle in Eurasia will be co-located with the Symposium.
Format of the Symposium proposes presentations of invited papers at the plenary session, oral and poster presentations.
Working language of the Symposium is English.

Accommodation
The Symposium will be held and conferees will be accommodated in the recreation campus "Rovesnik" of the East Siberian State Technological University on shore of the Lake Baikal, 230 km far from Ulan-Ude. Arrival in the campus from Ulan-Ude will be organized in June 24; departure will be organized in June 29. In case of need a hotel room in Ulan-Ude can be reserved by the Organizing Committee for conferees.
Ulan-Ude is a large economical, scientific, and cultural center of the East Siberia, a capital of the Republic Buryatia, it was found in 1666. Now the population of Ulan-Ude is about 400 thousands inhabitants; there are 5 universities, Buryat Scientific Center SB RAS, theatres, museums, art galleries in the city.
Lake Baikal is located in a deep tectonic hollow in the center of Asia at the height of 456 ü over the sea level and is surrounded by mountains. Lake Baikal is the deepest continental water reservoir on the Earth, the average depth is of 730 m, maximum depth is of 1637 ü, 1/5 of the world supply of the surface fresh water, luxuriant and varied vegetation and animals. In the end of June the weather is normally sunny and warm near the Lake Baikal, air temperature is of +24Àá, water temperature is of +10Àá.
Looking forward to seeing you among the participants of the Symposium!
