Location & Venue

Tomsk is one of the oldest cities (founded in 1604) of Siberia, Russia and the administrative center of the same area. Tomsk is situated in the Eastern part of Western Siberia on the banks of the river Tom. Tomsk is a member of the Association of Siberian and far Eastern cities.



Tomsk is the oldest educational and scientific centre in Siberia. Tomsk State University is the first University (founded in 1878) in the Asian part of Russia. Presently in Tomsk there are nine Universities, 15 research institutes, a special economic zone of technical-innovation type and six business incubators.
 


Tomsk scientific center, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences includes five institutes, two branch institutes and a design-technological center.



At the present time (2014) the population of Tomsk is more than 550 000.
